On November 8, EON joined The Philippine International Marathon 2009, A Run for the Pasig River. Organized by Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), the project was launched to promote awareness about and to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. The route was designed to provide glimpses of the state of the Pasig, with runners crossing nine of the thirteen bridges over the river.
Team EON ran the 42k full marathon as a relay with runners at each of the 21 stops all over the city completing the race at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila. For the participants, it was an experience in team-building. “It felt good to be part of the team effort,” says Frederick Fullon, EON’s Senior Graphic Artist and relay runner. “But it felt even better to be working together for the environment.”
For some, it was a chance to be part of something that mattered. “I was too young to help much when Piso Para Sa Pasig started,” says Patrick Co, Account Manager for Corporate PR in reference to the Pasig River rehabilitation Clean & Green campaign that began in 1989, “Running in this relay was my “piso para sa Pasig"”.
